To better connect with foreign merchants, the Yiwu taxation administration in East China's Zhejiang province recently hired Yemeni expat Ammar Al-Baadani as a publicity ambassador for the taxation service.

Ammar became the first non-Chinese citizen to hold the post.

Ammar obtained his doctorate degree in clinical medicine at Zhejiang University and is currently a surgeon at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University in Yiwu. He also chairs a culture exchange club at the International Family, a Yiwu-based not-for-profit organization catered to Yiwu expats.

"I was a foreign trade businessman for several years and still have many merchant friends. The business environment in Yiwu has been constantly improving in recent years and this is due to the taxation authorities' rollout of numerous favorable policies," said Ammar. "Foreign merchants would like to learn more about the taxation policies, so I am glad to serve as a bridge between them and the taxation authorities."
