The third World Textile Merchandising Conference opened in Keqiao district, Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province, on Oct 26. It will be livestreamed to around 50 countries and regions.

Han Bekke, president of the International Apparel Federation, said in a video message that textiles are the most globalized industry in the world. He also expressed hope that attendants will seek cooperation opportunities

The event will consist of a forum, an expo, a fashion week, a round-table seminar, and several inspection tours in Shaoxing, a city known as the Textile Capital of China.

Mario Boselli, honorary president of the Italian Fashion Chamber, said he also hopes to work with China and exchange works with Chinese fashion designers.

The Keqiao Textile City Overseas United Chamber of Commerce was inaugurated after the opening ceremony. Its mission is to develop non-profit organizations around the world and help regional textile industries with seed plans.

Keqiao, Shaoxing has been selected to host the conference for the next three years. It is home to the China Textile City, the biggest cloth distribution center in Asia.
