Wenzhou begins final countdown to young scientist summit
The second World Young Scientist Summit (WYSS 2020) will be held in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province from Oct 18 to 19, according to a press conference held by the organizers.
The World Young Scientist Summit, jointly created and organized by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and the Zhejiang provincial government, is an annual event mainly targeting high-profile scientists below the age of 45 from across the globe.
The main venue for this year's summit will be Wenzhou Medical University, and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, people within China, such as top Chinese scientists, foreign scientists working in China, and foreign diplomats to China, will attend in-person, while people outside China, including Nobel Prize and Turing Award laureates, officials from related international organizations, and professors at distinguished universities, will attend the event via an online platform.
Attendees come from 93 different countries and 17 international organizations.
The event will feature a round-table conference for young global leaders of science and technology, forums for young female scientists, a forum for presidents of Chinese and foreign universities, and a health sector forum.
In addition, the summit's opening ceremony will feature an award ceremony for the 16th CAST Youth Scientific Technology Award.
