The 4th West Lake International Documentary Festival (IDF2020) will be held in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, from Oct 17 to 19.
IDF2020 consists of seven sections, namely an opening ceremony, the D20 Nominations, IDP Pitching, Glory of Documentary, an IDF Forum, IDF Academy, and a closing ceremony.
Distinguished documentary filmmakers, production companies, distribution companies, scholars, and media from home and abroad will gather at West Lake to attend the event, which is the first Chinese documentary fair to be held since the onset of the COVID-19 outbreak.
IDF is meant to support and promote documentary filmmaking and is held at the China Academy of Art next to West Lake in Hangzhou every year during the "golden" autumn season.
The event aims to explore the relationship between documentary subjects, objects, and techniques and promotes values associated with honest observation and humanitarian responsibility. IDF encourages reflection on human existence, especially in the context of the natural world, through documentary filmmaking.
IDF2019 featured 632 documentaries from six continents and 61 countries and regions. It was attended by more than 10,000 people and received international acclaim.
