Anneli, a South African who lives in Tongxiang, a county in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, has promoted China's experience in fighting COVID-19 to her home country, Jiaxing Daily reported on June 8.

Anneli was in China throughout the pandemic and also volunteered to help with the prevention and control work in Tongxiang throughout the most critical months.

She took the temperatures of local residents at produce markets and stood guard at residential communities.

"These volunteer activities helped me learn about the strong prevention and control systems in China and the safe interactions between local residents and government departments," said Anneli.

However, the pandemic is also affecting her hometown now.

"I'm worried about my family and there's nothing I can do to help them," noted Anneli, whose foster daughter in South Africa then suggesting sharing China's experience to South Africans through live streaming.

She then recorded a five-episode online talk show called "A Week in China" with her foster daughter, which was filmed in a question-and-answer format and mainly talked about how China successfully fought off the epidemic. She uploaded the talk show to YouTube.

"China has done a marvelous job in controlling the pandemic and I need to let the world know about it," said Anneli.

As a teacher, Anneli also encouraged her students to make videos and posters about COVID-19 prevention and control work in China. She then mailed them to her overseas friends and students to teach them about the Chinese experience during the pandemic.
