Editor's note: Zhejiang province held its 32nd news conference on epidemic control on March 4, in which seven ordinary people were invited to share their experiences fighting the epidemic. Despite being ordinary everyday people, they have made extraordinary contributions to the province's fight against the disease.

Yang Xianghong, deputy director of the ICU of the Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital, has been providing assistance at the Fourth People's Hospital of Wuhan for more than 40 days. She was the leader of the first medical assistance team from Zhejiang to Hubei province, and now serves as director of the Building 20 inpatient area of the Fourth People's Hospital of Wuhan.

"I feel it an obligation to go to Wuhan, as I have been working in ICU for more than 20 years and I've treated SARS and bird flu patients. Moreover, my child is a college student and doesn't need my company," said Yang.

"I want my family and my colleagues' families to rest assured that we are fine here. We have enough protective supplies and we will emerge victorious against the epidemic," said Yang.

Nevertheless, Yang admitted that one of her colleagues had been infected. But he was very optimistic and wanted to donate blood to help other patients when he recovered. Fortunately, he did eventually recover and was discharged from the hospital.

Yang said she was more than happy to make rounds to the wards every day, as she was deeply moved by the bravery and optimism that many patients showed. Her inpatient area has treated nearly 100 critically-ill patients, 75 of whom have been discharged.

"When the epidemic is over, I will call my friends and enjoy some tea near West Lake. I'd also like to tour Wuhan in the future and see the cherry blossoms at Wuhan University," said Yang.
