In recent years, Zhejiang province has been working to promote tourist destinations portrayed in ancient Chinese poems in order to boost local tourism.

The province launched a program in June to select outstanding tourist destinations based on poems, and 10 were shortlisted from a pool of 86 candidates throughout the province. These 10 destinations, which include Xitang Ancient Town in Hangzhou and Mount Putuo in Zhoushan, have become the province's first Poetry Road Tourist Destinations.

The results were announced in Shengzhou on Dec 12.

Shengzhou is famous for its Yue Opera Town, and local authorities said they plan to combine the city's cuisine with Yue Opera, hot springs, and calligraphy in order to develop the city into an immersive poetry-themed tourist destination.
