According to the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Zhejiang has been vigorously supporting digital development and innovation in recent years.

The province aims to carry out more than 100 major projects in digital economy, life sciences and high-end manufacturing this year.

Earlier this year, the provincial government also announced several key projects to be carried out in 2020, 80 percent of which focus on core technologies in AI, internet of things, cloud computing, big data, cyber security and integrated circuits. Around 1 billion yuan ($142.31 million) in financial subsidies will be given to the projects.

ArcSoft also shares some of its core AI technologies with other companies to expand the application of AI.

"Sharing is important for innovation, especially when it comes to AI," said an executive from ArcSoft, adding that they held a sharing session at last year's fair and attracted more than 500 AI developers.

Yan Lida, a director at Huawei, agreed on this point, saying that AI development costs millions of yuan, putting a heavy burden on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Technology sharing can motivate SMEs and thus speed up industrial digitalization.

Zhejiang made progress in this regard when it launched an AI platform in November. The platform, developed by Zhejiang Lab, Alibaba and other institutions, is designed to facilitate coordination between AI developers and industries.
