Six Flags, the world's largest amusement park company based on number of properties, is to open in July 2020 its first water park in China.

China's first Six Flags water park is set to be located in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, and will be a joint venture between the US company and partner Riverside Investment Group, a Beijing-based real estate developer.

According to the development company, most equipment for the water park has been produced and is expected to be installed in the first half of this year.

In addition to the water park, Six Flags has also begun work on a land park, which began its first phase of equipment installation in August last year.

The Zhejiang theme park will feature record-breaking roller coasters, family rides, water slides and entertainment shows, along with themed sections paying homage to Chinese history and culture, according to Six Flags international president, John Odum.

The upcoming water park is part of Six Flags' efforts developing the Zhejiang Riverside Themed Town, which the company hopes will become a world-class tourist resort.
