Deputies to the second session of the 13th Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress started group panel discussions on the provincial government work report, work plan and budget report for Zhejiang in Hangzhou on the afternoon of Jan 27.

Du Xinyang from Jinhua was delighted with the economic numbers for 2018. "It's not easy to make such good economic achievements in the current complex and changeable international situation," Du said, adding that he appreciated all people's efforts to fulfill their economic tasks.

Li Xingtao from Wenzhou said he was impressed by the frequency of the word "innovation" in the government work report. "The innovation in science, technology and industries mentioned in the report gave me a lot of inspiration," said Li, explaining that Zhejiang is deepening administrative reform to speed up innovation in all fields, and this boosts his confidence in the high-quality development of the province's economy.

"We entrepreneurs should seize the opportunities and strive for a better future through joint efforts," Li added.

The people-oriented concept was a highlight of the work report in 2018, which was partly reflected in the improvements in lakes and rivers, and the construction of nursing homes for senior citizens.

"Responding to people's aspirations to live a better life is a must-do thing for a service-oriented government," said Lin Juqing, a deputy from Taizhou city. She remarked that the work report was in high accordance with the province's reality and people's expectations.

After intense discussions, many deputies offered their suggestions for the development of Zhejiang's economy, culture and social affairs in the following year.
