With support from the relevant government departments and the technology developed by a Nobel Prize laureate, Zhejiang Mashang Tech Co Ltd, a national high-tech enterprise, recently introduced a graphene printing base to Cangnan county in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province.

Konstantin Novoselov, who shared the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physics with Andre Geim for their work on graphene, collaborated with Mashang in building a graphene printing base in Cangnan with the aim of industrializing their research findings. The project is expected to accelerate the transformation of the traditional printing industry in Cangnan once completed.

Wei Naixun, chairman and founder of the tech company, said at the very beginning, they had no idea about how to compete with others and successfully attract the top scientist's attention, so they turned to the county government for help.

The relevant departments of the Cangnan government offered support in capital and land in return for the project to be stationed in the county. "We tried our best to provide considerate services for the foreign team," said a government official.

During a visit to Cangnan, Novoselov voiced his appreciation for the county government's assistance. The two sides agreed to set up a research center for the application of graphene in the internet of things sector at the printing base.

In recent years, Cangnan has been working hard to help local companies tackle problems and seek robust growth drivers. Among the total 170 problems proposed by companies, the government has so far successfully addressed 145.

With a favorable business climate, the county has attracted more and more high-tech enterprises in recent times. By the end of 2018, the number of national high-tech companies in Cangnan had reached nearly 80, a year-on-year increase of 40 percent.
