Deqing in East China's Zhejiang province released a report on the county's implementation of United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda at a world geospatial congress on Nov 20.

In September 2015, UN member states adopted an agenda which charts a new era of sustainable development until 2030 and decided on 17 new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for people, planet and prosperity.

Three years after the initiation of the agenda, Deqing assessed its efforts to reach the goals and formed China's first report on the implementation of UN's SDGs.

The report showed that in Deqing, 68 of the 102 indicators listed in the SDGs have reached or are very close to the UN's targets.

Liu Zhenmin, UN undersecretary-general for economic and social affairs hailed the report as a pioneering, international and exemplary sample for the world.

Steven Ramage, head of External Relations of Group on Earth Observations, an intergovernmental organization, said the "Deqing sample" should be promoted around the world for the assessment of regions' efforts in implementing UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
