Delegations from 34 foreign cities, 17 domestic cities and three consulates in Shanghai gathered at the second China Shaoxing International Friendship Cities Conference in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, on Nov 6.

The conference was hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the Zhejiang Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Shaoxing municipal government. The event was attended by Ma Weiguang, Secretary of the CPC Shaoxing Municipal Party Committee and Xie Yuan, deputy director of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.

Over the past 30 years, Shaoxing has established sister-city ties with 46 cities in 23 countries. Through the conference, the city hopes to develop deeper trade and cultural relations with its partner cities.

Highlights of the conference included a mayors' forum themed on city management and innovative development, and signing ceremonies with sister cities on education and economic cooperation, as well as cultural performances.

The conference is set to conclude on Nov 7.
