Student volunteers from Wenzhou Medical University in Zhejiang province visited southern India during their summer vacation, where they shared health advice and offered free medical treatment to local villagers.

They visited a school on Aug 19, where the volunteers offered health examinations to 350 local students and created health profiles for them.

To better serve the students, doctors and nurses from Parker Hospital were invited to provide free treatment and give speeches, with the aim of helping them form good hygiene habits.

Shashwat is a student majoring in clinical medicine at the Wenzhou Medical University. He joined the voluntary activity in his country this summer.

He said that he learned a lot from this special experience, such as how to organize an activity and how to efficiently communicate with patients.

The voluntary activity in India is part of a summer healthcare program initiated by Wenzhou Medical University, which is aimed at providing medical care to countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative by dispatching teams to countries including Thailand, South Africa, Namibia, Nepal and Kenya.
