Zhang Yimou directs G20 Hangzhou show

Zhang Yimou, one of China's best known film directors who directed the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, is serving as the chief director of the cultural performance set to dazzle the opening of the G20 summit. 

As the presiding country of the summit, China will host a vivid cultural performance as the world’s eyes look to Hangzhou.

The performance has taken more than a year to plan and is based on the original cultural show "Impression West Lake". The musical drama will take place on a large-scale water and feature a symphonic concert.

About "Impression West Lake" 

"Impression West Lake" is in China’s top seven shows of its kind. It vividly presents the history and culture of West Lake by exploring the folklore and myths of Hangzhou and highlighting the best of its charming tales. Popular stories include the Legend of White Snake and Butterfly Lovers.
