The 12th Lujiazui Forum will be held from June 18 to 19 in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, according to a government news conference on June 11.

This year's forum will be entitled "Shanghai International Financial Center 2020 - New Starting Point, New Mission, and New Vision", and is intended to collect useful ideas from around the world to boost Shanghai’s financial development.

According to Xie Dong, director of the finance department of Shanghai, the event will consist of seven plenary meetings and a night discussion focusing on important topics in the economic and financial sectors, including global development trends, international cooperation, financial technology, and financial justice.

A number of signing ceremonies will also be held. Officials revealed that the Shanghai government will partner with the Export-Import Bank of China and Bank of China in various areas, such as infrastructure construction, industrial development, and asset management.

Xie said that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the development and opening-up of Pudong, setting this year's forum apart from those held in previous years.

Through three decades of development, Shanghai has become a new force in the global financial sector. In the latest edition of the Global Financial Centers Index (GFCI 27), Shanghai moved up one place to rank fourth among world financial centers.

The new era has brought new requirements, challenges and missions for Shanghai as an international financial center, said Xie.

He revealed that the city will further promote financial opening-up, develop fin-tech and introduce more innovative measures to push forward financial reform.
