The joint opening ceremony for the 2026 Themed Tourism Year "Discover the Treasures of Shandong", the 43rd Weifang International Kite Festival, and the 2026 Weifang Kite Carnival was held at the World Kite Park in Weifang on April 18.
Weifang, a famous industrial city, has four industrial clusters each with output value of over 100 billion yuan, including power equipment, high-end chemicals, food processing and new-generation information technology.
Weifang is home to dozens of national and provincial development zones, pilot areas and high-tech industrial development zones.
Centuries ago, Zheng Banqiao (1693-1765), a county magistrate who served in Weixian, today's Weifang in Shandong province, wrote a nostalgic poem about spring fun. He described kites — which he called "paper flowers" — flying like snow, filling the sky, painting a picture of kites everywhere around Qingming Festival.
The 43rd Weifang International Kite Festival and the 2026 Kite Carnival begin on April 18 at the World Kite Park.
The Farrington Weifang is a hotel furnished with 229 rooms and suites and more than 10 restaurants and lounges.
Following a five-month journey across 16 cities, Weifang emerged as the winner in the "Shandong Cuisine Championship".
