Weifang High-Tech Zone fosters industrial synergy

Industrial parks in Weifang High-Tech Industrial Development Zone are evolving into engines of industrial collaboration and innovation.

Focusing on sectors such as high-end equipment manufacturing, next-generation information technology, biomedicine and new materials, the national-level high-tech zone has developed industrial parks that place upstream and downstream enterprises in close proximity, encouraging resource sharing and technological cooperation.

A partnership in the Weifang Optoelectronics Industrial Park exemplifies this approach. Shandong Huanke Environmental Protection Technology and Shandong Tianwei Membrane Technology, located on different floors of the same building, have become close industrial partners.

Shandong Huanke specializes in environmental protection equipment and integrated treatment solutions. During wastewater treatment projects involving industrial acids, the company discovered that Tianwei Membrane's diffusion dialysis membrane technology could purify and recover waste acids for reuse in production, significantly lowering chemical use and treatment costs.

"During project consultations, we found that Tianwei's membrane technology could recycle waste acid and reduce the amount of alkali required for neutralization, helping lower treatment costs for enterprises," said Kang Meili, deputy general manager of Shandong Huanke Environmental Protection Technology.

The partnership proved mutually beneficial. Tianwei's independently developed bipolar membrane technology converts inorganic salts into reusable acids and alkalis without additional chemical agents, but it requires highly purified wastewater. Huanke's pretreatment technologies, including chemical precipitation and resin adsorption, are able to meet these technical requirements.

Such partnerships are increasingly common across the zone.

Local manufacturers now work closely with neighboring suppliers and technology firms, creating an industrial ecosystem where "industrial parks become industrial chains". This model helps reduce logistics costs, improve production efficiency and accelerate the commercialization of technological innovation.
