An event promoting Zheng Xuan culture, part of the "Culture City of East Asia" activities, was held on Aug 14 in Weifang, East China's Shandong province.
The event, hosted by the Weifang municipal people's government, aimed to promote Zheng Xuan culture, enhance international cultural exchange and cooperation, and help Weifang fulfill its role as the Culture City of East Asia for 2024.
Zheng (127-200) was a famous Confucian scholar of the late Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220).
During the opening ceremony, a new book titled The Complete Works of Zheng Xuan was unveiled, which not only summarizes Zheng's academic achievements but also promotes traditional Chinese culture.
Wang Lu, president of Qilu Publishing House, and Wu Qingfeng, editor and professor at the School of Literature at Shandong Normal University, introduced the new book.
Prior to the opening ceremony, participants of the event paid their respects at the Zheng Xuan Memorial Hall in Xiashan Ecological & Economic Development Zone and visited the Modern Agricultural Research Institute of Peking University. Following the opening ceremony, they visited the Zheng Xuan Cultural Exchange Exhibition.
This event underscores Weifang's commitment to promoting its cultural heritage, fostering international cultural dialogue, and contributing to the ongoing development and enrichment of the city's cultural landscape.
