Weicheng district is one of the central urban districts of Weifang in East China's Shandong province, with a total area of 269.54 square kilometers. It governs six sub-districts, a provincial-level development zone, two development service centers, 169 administrative villages, and 86 communities. It has a permanent population of 533,000.
In 2023, the district's GDP hit 39.17 billion yuan ($5.49 billion), up 6.4 percent year-on-year. The general public budget revenue hit 2.08 billion yuan, with fixed asset investment and total retail sales of consumer goods up 7.7 percent and 8.4 percent year-on-year, respectively.
Weicheng district boasts 14 key cultural relics protection units, 23 general immovable cultural relics, and 11 museums. The Shihu Garden, integrating the architectural styles of the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911), is a key cultural relic protection unit at the national level.
Positioned at the geographical center of Weifang, Weicheng district serves as an important transportation hub on the Shandong Peninsula. It is crisscrossed by railways, expressways, national highways, provincial highways, and urban roads, serving as a vital gateway to the western part of Weifang.
With a strong industrial base and vibrant economy, Weicheng district boasts 161 industrial enterprises with annual revenue of 20 million yuan or above, 29 industrial enterprises with annual operating income exceeding 100 million yuan, 109 high-tech enterprises, and 166 sci-tech-based small and medium-sized enterprises.
