The Weifang Binhai Economic and Technological Development Zone is a national-level economic and technological development zone approved by the State Council. It has a land area of 541 square kilometers, a sea area of 480 sq km, a coastline of 60 kilometers, and jurisdiction over two sub-districts.
It has been successively designated as a national scientific and technological innovation base for trade promotion, a national ecological industrial demonstration park, a national vocational education innovation and development pilot zone, a national demonstration pilot zone for circular transformation, a high-end equipment manufacturing industry base around the Bohai Sea, a national demonstration zone for integrated urban-rural development, and a demonstration park for the integrated development of industry and talent in Shandong province.
The development zone focuses on developing three industrial clusters each with an output values of 100 billion yuan ($14.03 billion) or more in petrochemical new materials, biopharmaceuticals, and marine chemicals, as well as two industrial clusters worth 50 billion yuan each in ecological plant protection and high-end equipment.
