The Xiashan Ecological & Economic Development Zone is located in the southeastern part of Weifang in East China's Shandong province. It was officially established and put into operation in 2008. It administers four sub-districts, two communities, and 275 administrative villages, covering an area of 483 square kilometers with a permanent population of 163,000.
The area boasts picturesque landscapes with green mountains and beautiful waters. It is also home to Shandong's largest reservoir, the Xiashan Reservoir, with an area of 144 sq km and a total capacity of 1.45 billion cubic meters.
It also enjoys developed transportation infrastructure, with railways, high-speed trains, and expressways running east to west.
In addition, the development zone is advancing industrial clustering, ecological development, and service platform development, forming an ecological industrial system dominated by modern agriculture, medical care and wellness, cultural tourism, and advanced manufacturing.
