Weifang No 1 Middle School was founded in 1913. In 2005, the school was moved to a new campus covering an area of 1,259 mu (83.9 hectares). It has a general education division, international division, art and physical education division, Weiyang Academy management division and a future experimental campus. At present, there are 5,066 students and 520 teaching and administrative staff at the school.
Canada Weifang Secondary School, a Sino-foreign cooperative education program, was established by the international division of Weifang No 1 Middle School in 2009. It was approved by the Shandong Provincial Education Department and Canada B.C. Ministry of Education. The school offers students both Chinese high school courses and a high-quality English-instructed Canadian B.C. curriculum.
Students who have completed all credits will receive a dual high school diploma from the Shandong Provincial Education Department and Canada B.C. Ministry of Education. The diploma is accepted by universities in many countries and regions, such as Canada, the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
