Jining's foreign trade soars in first half of 2024

Jining has reported a remarkable surge in foreign trade during the first half of 2024.

The total value of the city's imports and exports reached 63.22 billion yuan ($8.7 billion), a substantial year-on-year increase of 48 percent. Exports accounted for 53.41 billion yuan, up 58.2 percent, while imports reached 9.81 billion yuan, a 9.5 percent growth.

Private enterprises played a pivotal role in driving Jining's foreign trade growth, contributing 54.04 billion yuan, while State-owned enterprises contributed 3.28 billion yuan and foreign-invested enterprises contributed 5.9 billion yuan.

Jining's trade with major markets such as ASEAN and the United States exhibited strong growth. Trade with ASEAN surged by 79.9 percent to 15.43 billion yuan, while trade with the United States increased by 37.1 percent to 5.8 billion yuan. Furthermore, trade with Belt and Road countries reached 41.59 billion yuan, growing by 64 percent.

Exports of mechanical and electrical products, labor-intensive products, and agricultural products all experienced robust growth, with exports of mechanical and electrical products reaching 25.01 billion yuan, a 56.3 percent increase, exports of labor-intensive products growing by 96.9 percent to 15.03 billion yuan, and agricultural product exports increasing by 50.6 percent to 5.37 billion yuan.
