Intl media influencers honor Confucius at memorial ceremony
"It was amazing to see so many people from different countries honoring Confucius," said El Batoul Nejjaoui, a Moroccan vlogger who has been living in China for seven years, during a memorial ceremony at the Confucius Temple.
As part of the China International Confucius Cultural Festival, the ceremony takes place every Sept 28 to celebrate the birthday of Confucius, the renowned Chinese philosopher and teacher who lived from 551 to 479 BC.
The sacrificial rite at the Confucius Temple was designated an important part of China's cultural heritage in 2006.
Nejjaoui, also an online influencer, is participating in a two-day media tour, titled "Global Influencers Appreciate the Wisdom of Confucius" from Sept 28 to 29.
The tour invites social media influencers from countries including the United States, Egypt, Italy, Russia, and Morocco to explore various sites in Qufu related to Confucius and learn more about the ancient philosopher's legacy.
