Taibai Lake New Area People's Hospital, which is located in Jining, East China's Shandong province, is constructing a new ward building and plans to put it into operation by the end of 2022, local media outlets reported.

The six-storey building has a floor area of 12,000 square meters in total. It is expected to accommodate 200 beds, and will be equipped with smart facilities, such as a central air conditioner, communication networks, smoke detectors, as well as nurse call systems.

The new ward building will greatly improve the hospital's services and expand its capacity, said Xu Sheng, a Party official of the hospital.

The project will also bring enormous benefits to nearby residents. According to Liu Xiaoxi, who lives at Jidong New Village, which is not far from the hospital, his community has 30,000 residents and most of them are either middle or senior aged. People with diabetes, heart disease or high blood pressure would not have to be kept waiting if the new ward building is completed, he said.

Wang Chengwen, vice-president of the hospital, said that they are currently working to introduce more advanced equipment, employ more professionals, and improve their management.
