Special Session on Distant-Water Fisheries Dispute Resolution Held at SCIA

On the afternoon of 23 June 2026, the "Special Session on Distant-Water Fisheries Dispute Resolution" was held in Qianhai, Shenzhen. The event was co-hosted by the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (also known as the Greater Bay Area International Arbitration Center, hereinafter referred to as the "SCIA") and the Shenzhen Municipal Ocean Development Bureau, with professional support from the Law School of Dalian Maritime University.

Nearly 30 representatives from Shenzhen's distant-water fisheries and related industrial chain enterprises, industry associations, and institutions participated in the event.

Zhao Feng, Secretary General of SCIA, delivered the opening remarks.

Representatives from Liancheng Overseas Fishery (Shenzhen) Co Ltd., CNFC Overseas Fisheries Co Ltd., Shenzhen Fugang Fishery Co Ltd., and Shenzhen Rongheng Ocean Fishery Co Ltd. shared their experiences, discussing the legal challenges, lessons learned, and needs encountered in their overseas operations.

Professor Zhang Yanxuan from the Law School of Dalian Maritime University gave a keynote speech on "Legal Risk Identification and Response Strategies for International Distant-Water Fisheries".

Huang Yiming, Deputy Director of the SCIA Maritime Arbitration Center, shared insights on key maritime arbitration issues related to distant-water fisheries.
