From 14 to 17 September 2025, the 2025 Chinese-Speaking Lawyers Convention, with the support of the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA), was held in Qianhai, Shenzhen. As one of the key parallel sessions, a themed seminar titled "Cross-border Arbitration for Chinese Enterprises and the Role of Chinese-speaking Lawyers" was hosted by the SCIA on the afternoon of 15 September, at the SCIA Tower in Qianhai, Shenzhen. SCIA arbitrators, experts and scholars from China and abroad, and senior in-house counsel engaged with more than one hundred Chinese-speaking lawyers in discussions on the institutional development and innovation of commercial mediation, and typical cases resolved through the "SCIA mediation + SCIA arbitration" approach.

Gao Shu, SCIA Arbitrator, Executive President of the Shenzhen One Belt, One Road Legal Service Federation (Qianhai), and Chairman Shenzhen Qianhai lnternational Commercial Mediation Center, extended the opening remarks.

Zhao Feng, Secretary General of the SCIA, delivered the opening remarks.

Duan Ming, Associate Professor at the School of Law, Xiangtan University, delivered a keynote speech on "Key Points and Difficulties in China's Commercial Mediation Legislation."

Chi Wenhui, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Development Department of the SCIA, shared insights on the topic of "SCIA’s HDR Practice and the Role of Chinese-speaking Lawyers."

Zhai Jingmin, President of Beijing Association for Alternative Dispute Resolution, discussed the topic of "The Practice of Mediation-Arbitration in China's Commercial Disputes."

Guo Shaopeng, Director of the Research and Development Center at Beijing Guolian Zhengxin Technology Co Ltd., led a session on "The Digitalization Practice of the Qianhai International Commercial Mediation Centre."

Lo Seung Chi, Vice Chairperson of Hong Kong Mediation Council Limited (HKMCL), delivered a presentation on "The Practice and Experience of Mediation-Arbitration Cooperation in Hong Kong."

The roundtable discussion was moderated by Wen Guihe, Vice Chairman of the Shenzhen Qianhai International Commercial Mediation Center. The discussion featured the following participants: Chen Xin, Director of the Case Filing and Consultation Department (Mediation Center) of the SCIA; Lo Seung Chi, Vice Chairperson of Hong Kong Mediation Council Limited (HKMCL); Shi Lixin, SCIA Arbitrator and Chairman of the Mediation and Conciliation Center of the Macao Lawyers Association; Chen Xikang, SCIA Arbitrator and President of the Dongguan Mediation Association; Wang Xiangdong, Chairman of the Zhongshanlvzheng Commercial Mediation Center; and Wei Zhaobin, Chairman of the Huizhou Huirong International Commercial Mediation Center.
