Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration Maritime Arbitration Center

Based on the previous work of South China (Qianhai) Maritime and Logistics Arbitration Center since 2015, SCIA set up the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration Maritime Arbitration Centre (SCIAMAC) in 2021 as its professional branch. SCIAMAC is committed to delivering independent, impartial, professional, and efficient dispute resolution services for domestic and international stakeholders in the maritime and commercial sectors. Within the new panel of arbitrators, there are 116 arbitrators with expertise in the maritime fields, representing 22 countries and regions. Their specialized areas of competence cover a wide range of fields, including maritime transport, marine insurance, shipbuilding, ship financing, crew labor, and international trade.

SCIAMAC will fully implement the requirement to "support Shenzhen in  accelerating the construction of a global maritime city" in the Opinions of the Central Committee of the CPC and the State Council on Supporting Shenzhen in Building a Pilot Demonstration Area of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics. It will also align with the spirit of the guiding documents issued by the Supreme People’s Court, which specifically advocate for the development of SCIAMAC. The SCIAMAC will actively address the challenges of China's maritime arbitration business in the international market, collaborating with the maritime industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (hereinafter the "GBA") to jointly promote the development of maritime dispute resolution practices. This endeavor aims to assist Shenzhen in establishing itself as a global maritime centre and enhancing the internationalization of legal services for the maritime industry in the GBA.
