SCIA, SCIAHK Hold Advanced Training Program

From March 20 to 24, 2024, the "SCIA & SCIAHK Dual Qualification Advanced Training Program in International Commercial Mediation", jointly launched by the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (hereinafter referred to as the "SCIA") and the South China International Arbitration Centre (Hong Kong) (hereinafter referred to as the "SCIAHK"), took place in Shenzhen and the Hong Kong SAR.

Thirty participants from Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Guangdong, the Hong Kong SAR, the Macao SAR, and others participated in the five-day full English training course.

Internationally renowned mediation experts from the United States, Europe, Chinese mainland, and Hong Kong SAR delivered lectures on different styles of commercial mediation theories and techniques, sharing practical mediation experiences.

Of the 30 course attendees, 24 are industrial professionals, including lawyers, mediators, and corporate legal officers from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR, while the other six are from Peking University, Renmin University, the University of Hong Kong, the University of Macao, Sun Yat-Sen University, etc.

Through the immersive international commercial mediation training course, a diverse integration of "theory + practice", "legal profession + academia", and "lecture + practical exercises" was fully achieved, comprehensively enhancing the capability and level of international commercial mediation and dispute resolution.

Upon completion of the course, the trainees received a graduation certificate from the SCIA and the SCIAHK, qualifying them for priority inclusion in the recommended list of mediation experts by the SCIA and the SCIAHK.

They will have the opportunity to serve as mediators in cases handled or managed by the SCIA and the SCIAHK in the future and participate in mediation practice activities of the two institutes.

The training sessions were held respectively at the SCIA Tower, the SCIA Headquarters in Qianhai, Shenzhen  and the International Financial Center (IFC) Phase II, the SCIAHK Headquarters in Central, Hong Kong, with strong support from the Department of Justice of the Hong Kong SAR, the Hong Kong Bar Association, the Law Society of Hong Kong, the Guangdong Lawyers Association, the Shenzhen Lawyers Association, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Arbitration and Mediation Alliance.
