Talent drives regional development, and the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA), as an industrial hub of regional development, has succeeded in attracting a diverse pool of talent.
Incomplete statistics show that nearly 50 percent of the residents in NETDA come from other cities.
Wang Yajun is such a new resident in the development area. Born in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, Wang is captivated by South China's green and lively scenery. In 2021, Wang's employer, Beijing-based Star Space, opened a branch company in NETDA, and Wang jumped at the opportunity to relocate to Nantong.
NETDA's favorable business environment, convenient life, and comfortable environment attracted Wang's husband to start a business here. As frequent visitors to the NETDA Library over the past three years, Wang and her husband spoke highly of the cultural and sports facilities in the area, expressing bright hopes for their future in NETDA.
Another new resident, Wei Lei from Liaoning province, is a food deliveryman who has worked in the development area for seven years. According to Wei, there are more than 400 food deliverymen in NETDA, and most of them aspire to make it their permanent home.
He noted that the measures taken by local authorities, such as insurance coverage and seasonal gifts during extreme weather conditions, genuinely make him and other deliverymen feel appreciated. As a result, they have gradually developed a sense of belonging in this once unfamiliar land.
