NETDA seeks in-depth integration of industries, universities, research institutes

The 2023 Yangtze River Delta New Communication Industry Summit was held in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA), East China's Jiangsu province, on Oct 15.

The conference, which was organized by Tsinghua University and the NETDA government, was aimed at enhancing in-depth integration of industries, universities, and research institutes by  exploring new paradigms, as well as introducing high-tech enterprises' scientific resources to form a joint force with the key advantageous industrial chains in Nantong.

The conference was also focused on attracting Nantong enterprises to participate in major scientific research and industrialization projects of Tsinghua University and large-scale State-owned high-tech enterprises to promote the implementation of Nantong's innovation-driven strategy and the development of landmark industrial clusters.

Zhang Tong, Nantong Mayor, outlined the city's new-generation information technology industry during the event, noting that the total revenue of the sector reached 245 billion yuan ($33.52 billion) in 2022 and that the sector leads the country in various sub-fields such as integrated circuit testing, fiber optic communication, and electronic components.

Zhang added that authorities will sustain efforts to create a favorable business environment and expressed the hope that more high-tech enterprises will make investments in Nantong.

Agreements for a series of strategic cooperation projects were also signed during the event.
