The groundbreaking ceremony for a major lithium battery diaphragm production plant was held on Feb 8 in the Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area, or NETDA – located in Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – one of a number of projects that kicked off on the day.
The new plant's owner and operator is Shenzhen Senior Technology Material Co Ltd, a leading listed enterprise in China's lithium battery diaphragm industry. With a total investment of 10 billion yuan ($1.58 billion), the project is being divided into three phases and after the complex is completed it will generate annual revenue of about 10 billion yuan.
According to Liu Rui, executive director of Senior Technology Material, the group was bullish about Nantong's solid industrial foundations, geographical advantages and the opportunities being brought by various national strategies – such as the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
The company was also impressed by the business environment, led by the municipal government's integrity and professional services, Liu added.
The ceremony also marked the groundbreaking of 182 major projects – with a total planned investment of 149.7 billion yuan – which will start construction in Nantong in the first quarter of this year.
Among them, 22 projects – with a total investment of 30.5 billion yuan – will start construction in the NETDA in the first quarter, including the lithium battery diaphragm plant.
