NETDA fuels high-quality development
The Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area or NETDA has set a target to build itself a first-class development zone with the most competitive advantages in the Yangtze River Delta region, as well as nationwide. This will be characterized by the modernization of its leading industries – including the information technology, high-end intelligent equipment, biomedicine, and new energy sectors.
Statistics show that from January to November, the development zone achieved 6.51 billion yuan ($1.02 billion) in general public budget revenue, an increase of 13.04 percent over last year, ranking third in Nantong, while its industrial taxable sales reached 163.82 billion yuan, up 29.8 percent, ranking second in the city. The taxable sales of the service industry reached 163.13 billion yuan, up 20.1 percent, ranking among the highest in the city. The actual paid-in foreign investment amounted to $625 million, up 11.6 percent; imports and exports totaled 50.79 billion yuan, up 28.3 percent.
In addition, the development area has also placed great importance on oversea investment. In the first three quarters this year, the actual paid-in foreign capital received by the NETDA reached $500 million, ranking it first among all the counties, county-level cities and districts administered by the prefecture-level city of Nantong.
Twenty-four major projects, worth more than 1 billion yuan each, were signed in the whole year, involving a total investment of 65 billion yuan, with actual paid-in foreign investment reaching $560 million, up 16.3 percent since last year.
