As the cicadas begin their song, the buds of lotus flowers in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, have emerged in the lotus ponds, marking the beginning of the summer lotus viewing season.
In the ponds of the Haohe River Scenic Area, the lotus flowers have already manifested their beauty early on. Layers of bright red petals are arranged in a manner that resembles a three-dimensional ink and wash painting.
The optimal time to visit is following a rainstorm, when dewdrops cascade on the lotus leaves reminiscent of lively notes, creating a symphony of summer. Wearing traditional hanfu attire and promenading among the lotus ponds offers an experience akin to traveling back in time to ancient eras.
