The 20th Chinese (Jiangsu) medical team from Nantong, Jiangsu, to aid Guyana introduced Nantong's blue calico cloth to the local community during their one-year medical aid mission in the country, turning it into a symbol of the friendship between China and Guyana.

During a "Cultural Day" event held in a local community, members of the medical team were invited to showcase the blue calico handicrafts on-site and participate in a cultural exchange activity with Latin American characteristics.

While providing high-quality medical services, the team actively promoted cultural exchanges. They gifted a series of exquisite Nantong blue calico products to local medical staff, government officials, and community members. They were fascinated by the unique color and traditional patterns of the blue calico products, with many praising its exquisite craftsmanship and deep cultural significance.

Guyana's Minister of Health, Frank Anthony, received a special gift of blue calico cloth during the handover ceremony of medical supplies donated by the Chinese medical team. After listening to a detailed explanation from the team members, he said, "Blue calico is a symbol of Chinese culture. I appreciate the continuous assistance from the Chinese medical team to Guyana's healthcare sector for over 30 years. I highly value this sincere friendship and precious gift."

The team leader, Du Boxiang, said, "The Guyana medical team uses blue calico as a medium for cultural exchange, while opening up the field of medical aid in the recipient country of Guyana. We hope to strengthen interactions with locals in various ways while conducting medical work, allowing more people to appreciate the diversity and richness of Chinese culture."
