The "Elegant Jiangsu, Enjoy Intangible Cultural Heritage at Your Doorstep" exhibition kicked off in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province, on March 16, with the intangible cultural heritage items from Nantong participating.

As one of the significant events under the "Elegant Jiangsu" brand, this exhibition attracted over 100 intangible cultural heritage items from across the province. The Nantong exhibition area focused on local handicrafts and food, showcasing nationally recognized items such as Nantong blue calico printing and dyeing techniques, Nantong banyao kite making techniques, as well as provincially recognized items like Nantong redwood carving.

The practitioners of Nantong's intangible cultural heritage items demonstrated their traditional craftsmanship on-site. The blue calico printing and dyeing practitioner created patterns on cotton cloth with indigo dye. The banyao kite maker carved whistles on-site, narrating the flying secrets of kites soaring in the sky.

The Nantong exhibition area provided free tastings and interactive experiences and introduced unique intangible cultural heritage creative products, attracting many citizens to stop and purchase.

The Rugao Dongtang candy makers innovatively introduced a low-sugar formula, balancing health and taste considerations. The Nantong peppermint oil extraction techniques combine with modern essential oil technology to develop multifunctional derivatives such as mosquito repellents and calming products.

In May of this year, the exhibition's main event will also commence in Nantong, allowing residents and tourists to enjoy the feast of intangible cultural heritage without leaving their homes.
