Rudong makes strides in new energy, equipment industry
In the first nine months of this year, the new energy and equipment industry in Rudong county, Nantong, Jiangsu province witnessed a substantial leap in development, achieving taxable sales of 74.51 billion yuan ($10.29 billion) and paying 1.38 billion yuan in taxes.
The industry's success in the county can be attributed to the increasing number of enterprises engaged in this sector. One standout example is Jiangsu Guoke Intelligent Electric Co Ltd.
Facing challenges such as diminishing product profits and intense competition in the wind power industry, Guoke has shifted from just producing wind power control equipment to an operational services model. This strategic transition has not only hedged against low-price competition but has also created new competitive advantages for the company.
In 2022, the taxable sales of the company were over 600 million yuan, and that number is expected to exceed 1.5 billion yuan this year. The majority of the growth will stem from the operation and maintenance technology improvement services segment.
Following a similar trajectory of transitioning from a single-product manufacturer to a service provider is Shanghai Electric Group. In 2021, the company registered an operation and maintenance company in Ruduong's Yangkou town. Additionally, they established a remanufacturing center in Rudong Economic Development Zone, contributing to cost reduction and efficiency improvement through the recycling of damaged wind turbine electrical components.
Since the beginning of this year, the center has achieved a cost reduction effect of 38 million yuan.
