Trainees of the blue calico dyeing and printing techniques seminar at Nantong University in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, displayed their works on Aug 27 to celebrate the completion of the training session.

Forty trainees from 16 cities around the country created more than 100 works after one-month of free training. These works feature the integration of blue calico cloth with batik in Southwest China's Guizhou province, tie-dyeing in Southwest China's Yunnan province, and paper cutting.

The seminar this year invited scholars from universities including Tsinghua University, Fudan University, and Beijing Normal University as well as the team led by Wu Yuanxin, the national inheritor of blue calico dyeing and printing techniques, to give lectures and provide guidance.

In addition to learning traditional crafts, including blue calico dyeing and printing, batik, and embroidery, these trainees also visited the Nantong Blue Calico Museum, the Nantong Museum, the China Arts and Crafts Museum, and Shen's Embroidery Museum to seek inspiration.

NTU has hosted 11 editions of the intangible cultural heritage seminar and cultivated more than 400 trainees from around China.
