Tongzhou sees steady economic growth in H1
Tongzhou district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has experienced steady growth in economic development in the first half of this year, with its GDP reaching 88.05 billion yuan ($12.25 billion), a growth of 7.8 percent year-on-year.
Part of the reason for this stable growth is the rapid industrial development in Tongzhou. In the first sixth months of the year, the output value of high-tech industries accounted for 55.9 percent of the total in the district.
During the period, the district focused on the new energy sector, aiming to enhance industrial agglomeration. The district has also actively explored new business models in creative design, digital printing, and live-streaming e-commerce to advance the transformation of the traditional home textile industry.
To date, Tongzhou has attracted a number of leading companies and scientific innovation projects, with robust growth in industries such as energy storage and automotive electronics.
The Tongzhou government also places great importance on attracting key industrial projects. The district is planning to establish a stepped industrial platform system to attract more projects.
Additionally, local authorities have introduced 60 measures to optimize the business environment, providing convenience for local enterprises. Moreover, in the first half of the year, various tax reduction and fee reduction measures were implemented, saving over 1 billion yuan for companies.
This year, Tongzhou aims to attract more than 180 scientific and innovative projects, said Zhang Jianhua, Party secretary of Tongzhou. He added that the district hopes to add one enterprise worth one billion yuan and 10 enterprises worth 2 billion yuan this year.
