Key industrial projects start construction in Rudong
A number of projects broke ground in Rudong, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, at the beginning of February, according to local media.
The projects are among the key projects that Rudong has introduced to boost its industrial development.
Among them is a facility funded by Jiuzhou Xingji Technology Co Ltd, which is the third provincial key project that the county has introduced.
The facility, which will receive 2.39 billion yuan ($346.59 million) in funding, will produce 20,000 metric tons of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene fiber.
According to Chen Bing, vice-general manager of the company, Jiuzhou Xingji currently commands a 35 percent domestic market share.
The annual production capacity of the company is expected to exceed 40,000 tons after all projects start operations, Chen added.
The submarine cable manufacturing facility funded by Far East Cable Co Ltd is another provincial key project that is under construction in the county.
Located in Yangkou Port, the facility is backed by an investment of 3 billion yuan and covers an area of 400 mu (26.67 hectares).
According to Far East Cable, the facility can produce a single submarine cable that measures over 50 kilometers, a record in submarine cable manufacturing.
In addition, the third LNG terminal in Rudong - the Xiexin Huidong LNG terminal - also broke ground this month. The facility is expected to have a handling capacity of 3 million metric tons of LNG.
