Jiang Yunlong, a 75-year-old retiree from the Nantong human resource and social security bureau, recently created a traditional Chinese ink wash painting of the places where he was born and worked.

"Before, I created a painting representing my life in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region," explained Jiang.

He joined the Xingjiang Production and Construction Co after graduating from high school. At first, he served as a tractor driver and later became a teacher.

"The painting was based on my memories of the company building and the Gobi Desert," said Jiang. This gave him an idea – why not represent his major life experiences in a single painting?

"I was born in Tongzhou district and worked in Xingjiang for 13 years. After transferring back to Nantong, I first worked in a textile factory and then came into charge of vocational training at the city's human resource and social security bureau. Each stage of my life is represented in my painting," Jiang recalled.

Jiang became fascinated with traditional Chinese painting after retiring and has attended a university teaching seniors how to paint.

In 2015, a painting and calligraphy workshop named after him was founded in his residential area, where he has held several exhibitions.
