Xinghua city – administered by Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province – held an investment attraction conference in Shanghai on Sept 19, to drum up funding for prepared or ready-to-eat food manufacturing projects.
Over 100 industry and customer representatives from Beijing, Shanghai, Taiwan, the UK, Germany and others attended the event.
A signing ceremony for 25 projects was also held at the scene, covering production of health food, premade food, condiments among other fields.
They included 19 manufacturing projects with a combined investment of 12.92 billion yuan ($1.78 billion), five industry-university-research projects and one joint venture.
Boasting excellent natural resources, Xinghua is one of the top 10 commodity grain production hubs in China and it also has a high annual output of freshwater products.
At present, the city is exploring the aquaculture of river crabs, freshwater fish and crayfish, among others. It is strengthening the development of order farming and product traceability systems and accelerating the construction of standard raw materials bases.
