Moves made by the Taixing High-tech Zone – located in Taixing city in East China's Jiangsu province – to promote Ecology-Oriented Development, or EOD, have won recognition.
The initiative to adopt a mode to empower high-quality development was recently honored as a provincial-level classic case for the local ecosystem.
The EOD mode aims to pair ecological environment governance projects, which have strong public welfare targets but poor profitability, with related industries with good returns.
The goal is to transform the economic value brought by ecological environment governance.
The zone was listed as a pilot area in promoting an EOD mode in April 2021. Early in 2012, it launched a related research report, aiming to maximize the benefits of ecological environment governance.
In addition, the zone has cooperated with Taixing Wisdom Light Environmental Protection Technology Co Ltd to implement the integrated development of ecological environment governance and industrial projects.
The renovation of Fengqi Lake is a prime example. It has increased the available land area in the park and driven the growth in prices of surrounding land and housing.
A 3A-level scenic spot called Fengqi Town has been established around Fengqi Lake, making it the only provincial industrial tourism demonstration park.
