Taixing – a county-level city administered by Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – was recently honored as a pilot area for promoting the development of intellectual property, in a statement released by the province's IP office.

The recognition was accredited to the continuous efforts conducted by the city in recent years to promote intellectual property work.

To popularize know-how about intellectual property rights, the city carried out a series of promotional activities for IP services in local industrial parks, enterprises, schools and in other areas.

Taixing has also encouraged resident enterprises to be actively involved in patent projects and as a result it is now home to one national-level intellectual property demonstration enterprise.

From January to July, the city implemented 41 pledges for patent and trademark rights, while its IP pledge financing topped 600 million yuan ($82.83 million).

As of July, Taixing possessed 1,786 patents, including 278 invention patent authorizations. The number of valid invention patents was 2,433, a year-on-year increase of 19.44 percent. The city also had 12,462 valid registered trademarks and 11 well-known trademarks.
