The cross Fenghuang River Bridge of the Nantong-Taizhou-Yangzhou Extra-Large Bridge of Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-speed Railway was successfully closed on Nov 30 in Yangzhou, Jiangsu province.
China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group Jingjiang Heavy Industry, located in Jingjiang, a county-level city administered by Taizhou, Jiangsu, manufactured the steel box girder for the closed section and completed the key step of hoisting construction.
The Nantong-Taizhou-Yangzhou Extra-Large Bridge spans 172.9 kilometers, beginning in Nantong, passing through Taizhou, and ending in Yangzhou, along the north bank of the Yangtze River in Jiangsu.
This is the longest bridge under construction worldwide, with about 90 percent of the upper structure now built.
During the manufacturing of the steel box girder, the team employed building information modeling 3D models to design and improve the process. They utilized automated welding, precise tire frame positioning, 3D hydraulic adjustments, laser measurement, and other advanced technologies to ensure that manufacturing accuracy reaches millimeter-level precision.
