During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), the total import and export trade value of Jingjiang in Taizhou, Jiangsu province, has shown stable growth.
In the first three quarters, Jingjiang's total import and export trade reached 44.57 billion yuan ($6.30 billion), an increase of 10.16 percent compared to the same period in 2024.
Behind the growth of data is a surge of its thriving industrial chain cluster system. Its pillar industries such as shipbuilding and marine engineering are climbing towards new heights, while emerging industries such as health, new energy, and new materials are gathering momentum.
Specializing in the production of multi energy thermal storage water tanks, Jiangsu GMO High-Tech has experienced explosive growth in its foreign trade business in recent years. In the first three quarters, the company's exports grew by more than 200 percent year-on-year.
"We have launched a full range of products, including high-capacity electric water heaters, solar water heaters, and heat pump water heaters, targeting different foreign markets. Our products are mainly exported to markets in Europe, America, Australia, and Southeast Asia," said Zhu Jie, director of the company's overseas business unit.
The Belt and Road Initiative has also brought about the diversification of trade partners and constantly added new vitality to Jingjiang's foreign trade. In 2024, Jingjiang's trade volume with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative exceeded 10.3 billion yuan, a hefty increase of 40 percent year on year.
