Maqiao town in Jingjiang, a county-level city in Taizhou, has in recent years assisted local farmers in expanding their market reach through the use of digital platforms, resulting in a cumulative income increase of over 2 million yuan ($276,582).

In 2023, the town established an e-commerce center for local agricultural products, where all products are selected by the center's staff to ensure that only farm produce of the finest quality is delivered to customers.

The e-commerce center serves as a bridge between farmers and customers, satisfying customers' demand for fresh agricultural products while making it easier for local farmers to sell their produce.

For instance, this year has proven to be a bumper season for watermelons, and the e-commerce center has helped local growers sell nearly 2,500 kilograms of the juicy fruits by leveraging social media platforms and livestreams.

In addition, Maqiao has collaborated with Yunshanfu, a mobile payment platform of China UnionPay, this year to regularly release coupons on the platform, leading to more customers buying local produce.
