Liu Junxi, a young hurdler from Jingjiang city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – was recently picked to join the Chinese National Athletics Team and strive for medals for Team China at the upcoming Paris Olympic Games.

According to an announcement on the official website of the Chinese Athletics Association, Liu – together with Xu Zhuoyi and Qin Weibo – is a qualifier for the men's 110-meter hurdles event.
Liu, born in 2003, began his training when he was a third grader in primary school. After finishing elementary school, it was recommended he receive 110-m hurdles training at a sports school in Taizhou city.
As a member of the Jiangsu athletics team, Liu has repeatedly broken his personal bests at various domestic and international sports meets. His performances over the years have made him a notable figure in the new generation of Chinese hurdlers and helped him earn an Olympic spot in Paris.
According to the selection methods for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, a total of 40 athletes were admitted to the men's 110-m hurdles at this year's Olympics, with a maximum of three admitted from each country.
The athletes were required to meet the qualifications or earn respective points or rankings from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.
The athletics events at the 2024 Paris Olympics will be held on Aug 1-11.
