Gushan town in the Jingjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone – located in Jingjiang city, in East China's Jiangsu province – hosted a great series of events to celebrate the recent Dragon Boat Festival.
On June 6, the Nieyun community held an activity where residents came together to wrap zongzi – popular and traditional glutinous rice dumplings – and to recite ancient poetry.
The spirit of community extended beyond the event as volunteers delivered zongzi and essential supplies to ethnic minority residents who are facing hardship, spreading good cheer and wishes throughout the festivities.
On June 5, the Wangjiang community hosted a group of doctors who gave a talk to residents on Dragon Boat Festival customs and the health benefits of the herb wormwood, which can be used in various treatments.
A special clinic offered blood pressure checks, consultations and traditional Chinese medicine services, promoting healthy practices within the community.
Earlier on June 1, Gushan town hosted a lively zongzi wrapping competition, featuring 28 teams from villages and communities.
Participants showed off their skills in folding leaves, filling zongzi and tying knots, in a fun and competitive atmosphere.
